Concrete sleeper retaining walls use prefabricated concrete sleepers slotted between steel or concrete posts — the same basic format as timber sleeper walls, but in a material that will not rot, warp or attract termites. Install control joints where required

Install drainage behind the wall

Ag pipe, filter fabric and free-draining backfill go in before final backfill. Correct drainage is what separates a 50-year sleeper wall from one that moves in the first wet season.
